Playing with the band

I hope that everyone had a good weekend! We all went to A-town this weekend to see my husband play in his band. He is a wonderful bass player, and was a professional--on tour and everything--before settling down and going to law school. Which, of course, is where he met little ol' me.

The tribe has a show once a month and the singers are absolutely fantabulous. I've never watched him play with this particular band because I have been studying for the bar exam all of 2006 until March. I knew that the band was going to be good because of the people playing in it (one guy plays steel guitar for Loretta Lynn), but I was really only expecting so-so talent in the singing department. Boy, was I wrong. One of the girls actually gave me chills when she sang. My husband swears that last night wasn't even their best line up of singers.

After the show we had a little date without the kiddo at Applebee's. It was a fun weekend, and I even got to take a nap Saturday. Here's to a good and fun week for us all!

Thirteen Things about The Time my Dog Was On The Lam

1. I took Tzeitel to the mall with me the other day. It is a mall we (the dog and I) frequent often together.

2. She was even dressed in her new sundress.

3. After a few hours of walking around the mall police says "Ma'am, did you know you can't have dogs in the mall?"

4. I said, "No."

5. Then he proceeded to tell me that you can't, and that its posted on all the doors.

6. I didn't tell him this, but I checked the door that she and I entered the mall through and it said nothing about "no dogs allowed, except service animals."

7. When he determined that I wasn't going to be rude about the situation his whole demeanor changed and he even admitted that nobody reads those lists of rules.

8. He even said that he himself didn't read them.

9. So, we left.

10. On our way out of the mall I exited through the same door we entered through.

11. I looked for the sign. It was there, on the side wall in an entryway connecting the outside door and another door going into the actual mall. The no dogs rule was about #8 in a list of at least 15 rules.

12. Did I mention that I carry her the whole time, she weighs five pounds, and never bites or barks?

13. People, I beg of you, does my long coat chihuahua really seem like she should be on the lam?

Becoming an Attorney!

Tzeitel: Belicia, aren't you so proud of our Mommy for getting sworn in as an attorney tomorrow morning?

Belicia: Yes! She worked so hard during law school and studying for the bar exam.

Tzeitel: Yeah. I remember. We helped her so much by lying in the bed and being quiet while she studied and giving her puppy kisses for encouragement.

Belicia: Just between you and me, I don't think it was all that studying and hard work that got her this far.

Tzeitel: What do you think it was, then?

Belicia: The puppy kisses.

Mother Nature

This morning I got up early because my back was all itchy. But, after I put on the anti-itch pink stuff I decided it would be fun to sit in the living room ALONE and watch a little bit of T.V. with the puppy. But, as the sun started to rise I noticed all the bird's beautiful voices accompanying the sunrise. So, I just muted the T.V. and listened to the birds. As a city girl, it doesn't always hit me daily, but nature is just so beautiful.

So, here's some pictures I took of flowers at my husband's grandparents house for the Easter shindig. The white and yellow flowers shown here just really spoke to me, and I found them quite beautiful. Ohh, that laundry bell is dinging, I gotta go. :)

I'm It...

I've been tagged by Carmen and the Cozy Reader. How exciting is that!

Here are the rules:

1. Make a list of six weird facts/things/etc about yourself and then tag six more people. Post these on your blog and leave a comment here to let me know you have done it.

2. Go to the blogs of those you tagged and leave a comment saying, "You are tagged" and tell them to read your blog.

NOW, here are six weird things about me.

1. Whenever I get headaches they usually last for days and days and then go away for a year or more. Today is my second day of this lovely dull pain.

2. I pamper my dogs like they are humans. They just had a joint birthday party this weekend, I'll post some pics of that soon.

3. I am absolutely HORRIFIED of all health care professionals. It doesn't matter the brand, I cry even when I have to go in for something small. I don't really know where this irrational fear comes from, but its alive and kicking.

4. I'm not really fond of the color red. I've always thought this was a little strange because I love pink so much and pink is in the red family.

5. I love headbands. In style or not, they are my favorite way to do my hair when I'm in a big rush. I have really short hair so I just slide the headband on and spike out the back with some hairspray and go.

6. Little-Girl is actually my step-daughter. But, my husband has full custody of her and I love her like she is my own biological child. She calls me mom, and she and I have never used the word "step" to each other in our lives. I'm so incredibly blessed to have her in my life every day because she brings me so much joy. I look at her and love her as if she is my own, and I know that that love was placed there from God.

I am now tagging:

Heather
Aunt Amanda

Hello to blog world. I have been tagged. But, due to an extremely hectic day and a sick Little-Girl, I will be posting my "tag" info later on this evening.

Please come by and check me out again in a few hours!

Public Service Announcement

Earlier this afternoon I was eating in a restaurant right next to the food court in the mall. Some lady proceeded (in plain view) to lie her baby on her lap and change its dirty diaper. People, the food court in the mall is NOT the place for poopie diapers. I actually felt sorry for the baby, along with gagging, because if he had known better he would have been so humiliated! Go to the restroom to change your baby woman!

This has been a public service announcement. Brought to you by the number 9 and the letter j.

Busy, Busy Day!

Hello gang. I hope that all of you are having a wonderful day. I generally stay clear of anything religious on this blog, but today its unavoidable. I'm cleaning away in preparation for Passover. Every year I get more and more creative with my Matzo eating, and I will let you guys know if any new concoction occurs. Whoof down those cheeze-its kids, you've only got a few more hours. :)

Oreos & Ziplock

In our school system this year all the kids have a mid-morning snack. This idea is a little foreign to me since kids (including mine) have been making it through the school day for hundreds of years just on breakfast until lunch time--but that's not my point.

My point is that instead of just packing a snack for Chloe everyday, each student takes turns bringing snacks for the WHOLE CLASS. It always ends up being a very expensive ordeal. Today is Chloe's last snack day and nothing would do that we had Oreos. Although we live in a residential area in town, we are still a little bit away from the closest grocery store, but one block away from a 7-11. So, we got robbed by 7-11 corp...I mean paid the extra money for the two packs of Oreos, and I spent the next twenty minutes putting 3 Oreos in each little Ziplock.

Now for the good part. The second package had one less cookie in it than the first, so naturally we told Chloe the polite thing to do was to take that one for herself to make sure all her classmates had 3 cookies each. Oh my goodness. You would think the house was burning down. "Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Give it to so-and-so that I don't like!!! NOOOOO! That's not fair. I'm not doing that. Give me something else." You get the drift.

People, I beg of you, why can't we just bring our own snack everyday?!?!

Medieval Fair

So we all went to the Medieval Fair this weekend. With all due respect, there are some really weird people that go to those things. And, at least at the one we attended, it was not uncommon for the lovely SE breeze we had to bring you a full whiff of B.O. It must be the costumes these people were wearing.

I watched the belly dancers for awhile at the M.F. and then I got offered a free ticket for a free belly dancing lesson. I'm sure they were handing them out to everyone, but I couldn't help but feel a little sexy--especially since it was a dude handing them out. Sadly, though, my belly dancing talent will remain undiscovered as I turned the ticket down.

But the mermaids were out in full swing and Chloe had fun swinging up and down on some ropes with some dudes yelling at her "in character."

I took the Niece to the mall on Saturday. She's adorable and 5 and I love her. Here she is taking time from her busy playing schedule to pose for the Aunt LiLi paparazzi. Hugs, love and chihuahua kisses.
