Thursday 13

Thirteen Things I Use in My Beauty Regimen

1. Proactiv Solution. This three step skin care system does everything it says it will. I didn't try it until I was in my first year of law school, and even then my mom had to make me because I was so skeptical. I've used it ever since. It really does work and it really is consistent.

2. bareMinerals. I just started using this a few weeks ago. I couldn't get a liquid foundation that also had a UVA/UVB sunscreen to cover the discolorations I have before I used Proactiv. This works, also against my skeptiskim, and my husband goes on and on about how beautiful and natural my skin looks.

3. Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock. Its light and airy and doesn't leave you feeling as if you are slathered in grease. It really does cool, just like the label says, so I love to use it to cool down after a nice hot shower. I am able to cover my entire body in sunscreen everyday in less than 1 minute, thus protecting against skin cancer and wrinkles.

4. Origins, A Perfect World for Eyes. I can't tell if this stuff is working yet, but it sure is fun to play with skin care stuff and the sales pitch sure is convincing.

5. Origins, A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian. Same as #4, except I also put this on my neck.

6. Origins, A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisurizer with White Tea. This product is supposed to work with numbers 4 & 5 to provide the most benefit from environmental damage to the skin.

7. Vaseline Intensive Care Renewal Age Redefining Body Lotion. Lately, my skin just itches off from dryness and this stuff is cheap, isn't tested on animals, and stops my itching.

8.
Colgate Total toothpaste, a Crest SpinBrush, and floss. This combo keeps the plaque factory I call teeth under control and trips to the dentist non-eventful.

9. Bare Escentuals wandless mascara. Not tested on animals and leaves no clumps once you get the hang of having no bristles on the wand.

10. Origins eyeliner.

11. Origins Underwear for Lids eyeshadow in. I used to be quite loud with my eye makeup and then toned it down after living in D.C. This is the perfect neutral shade.

12. Origins, Checks and Balances. This has a fun foamy lather and doesn't strip my skin so I use it to take my makeup off before using my Proactiv.

13. ACT anticavitiy mouthwash.

Very good. I saved a few links. I've been wanting to try BareMinerals. I'm going to have to give it a try. I have the dry/oily problem and have a horrible time with foundation.

I used to use ProActive. It was great! But for some reason it stopped working for me after a few months. The same thing happens with every treatment I try. Ugh! I hate my zitty face. I never had this problem in high school. Hate it!

(Oh! I'v linked you up!)

My 13 are up!

Wow - you spend alot on your skin. Guess what I use on my skin? Nothing. Just eyeliner and lipstick for me. Never had a skin problem either, knock on wood.
I put your link on my TT - which is up, btw.

You're an inspiration.

I wondered about ProActive. Here (in Australia) it's pretty new. We get infomercials about it at about 3am with Jessica Simpson and Alicia Keys raving about it. I wondered if it was all hype. Now I know it's as good as everyone says.

Thanks for visting my 13.

I wish I could use ProActiv, or makeup at all.

With the ProActiv, I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide. And makeup just makes my face break out.

I use Olay Regenerist now.

Happy Thursday!!

I don't think I'd go to that much work, but even though I don't use BareMinerals, I've seen some incredible results on other people. One gal in our Bible study brought hers in one day and demo'd it because everyone asked her how she got her skin to look so terrific.

One of the benefits of getting older is usually your skin clears up after 50.

I have a chihuahua grandpuppy.

I can't believe you actually could think of 13 different things that you use. I feel very un-girly now. :)

At 1:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's interesting. I don't have much of a beauty regimen, and none that I follow faithfully, so I may take a few of your suggestions for my own. I've been meaning to do something about that for a while anyway.

At 1:57 PM, Blogger Natsthename said...

I love Bare Minerals. Just started using it in February and am so impressed with it that I want to order some blushes and eye shadows, too.

And I used to "steal" my son's Proactiv when I had breakouts. I found that it smoothed those fine wrinkles as well as sped up the zit-healing process.

That was an awesomely helpful list! Thanks!

At 5:03 PM, Blogger WendyWings said...

I don't think you can get Bareminerals here in NZ I will have to check it out in August when I am in the States.
My TT list is up finally.

I have been wanting to buy some bare get some bare escentuals but haven't. I didn't know anyone that used it. I don't currently use anything for a beauty regimen... but wanted to try this mainly to even out my skin pigment and such as I do have freckles. Maybe I should try it! Did you know you can buy it on ebay for a fraction of the cost?

I've heard good stuff about BareMinerals. I'll have to try it some time. :)

wow, you have a lot of comments here. I read on the back of a book recently that men have 6 items in their bathrooms and that women have over 300 and men can't name half of them. We women have a lot of things we have to do to maintain our beauty.

Just visiting via Colleen's. I loved your name...we have 3 dogs. 2 black lab pups and a golden retriever/collie mix.

I agree with you on the ProActive...it really works. Once a month my chin would get these awful breakouts from hormone flux. and the ProActive is the only thing that has every really kept it at bay.

Love your list.. I did mine on the same thing today!

Gonna try some of yours!
