Encounter with a Frenchman

Our last night in Paris the husband and I had been there 9 days. We had eaten at the trendy touristy restaurants and at the delicious hole-in-the-wall restaurants and patisseries. So, he really wanted to try the quick burger. If they have them in America, we don't have them in Oklahoma.

Its kind of like a McDonald's both in price, quality and dining room setup. So, he and I are sitting in a two-seater table facing each other and some drunk man walks in with a sober (or at least semi-sober) friend. The next thing I know the drunk guys is asking us for money in French so he can buy something to eat. Since neither husband nor I speak French, we let him ramble for a few minutes and then husband said, "Sorry, guy. I only speak English." The drunk guy says "you only speak English, well, F*&! you, F*&! you, F*&! you." Husband and I continue eating and ignore him.

The man then gets right up next to my face and starts sticking his tongue out and flapping it and making rude gestures. After about 45 seconds husband has had all he can take and stands up to settle this man to man. (Now, would be a good time to say that many French men are small, and husband is a big man who is very strong). Upon seeing the size of husband the man backed off several feet. As we started to walk toward the door he started coming at husband again. We got out with everything under control though. Whew!

hugs, love and chihuahua kisses

Ahh, the French. They can be both charming and annoying. I hope it didn't color your view of Paris, though. It's a magical place.
