Happy Thursday!

Its almost the end of the week. Man, its gone by quickly. Today I just keep thinking about those people who never really can be satisfied with everyone else's life. For example, most people I come in contact with everyday are really concerned that I'm single. Many people are also really concerned that I don't own my own home. *GASP*, I'm 27 and I still rent! I've also noticed that people are V.E.R.Y. concerned about my dogs.

Now, by concerned you should understand that I mean getting all up in my business and not approving of the choices in my life.

Its like it never occurred to people that I could actually enjoy being single, don't want the extra responsibility of being a home owner, and get enjoyment out of raising chihuahuas.

What are some areas where people like to be concerned in your life?

Calling all Solo Attorneys...

This past weekend I went to a conference for attorneys in Oklahoma that are solo (on their own) or in a small firm. At first, I signed up to go just because I was on the planning committee. Boy, I'm glad I did.

It was wonderful and refreshing. Being an attorney is an extremely stressful job, and I don't really have anyone in my life right now that I feel is in my corner. So, whenever you are really going at it in a case with another attorney there isn't anyone in your corner when you get home at night. The conference allowed me to meet dozens of other young attorneys in my same position. There were also a lot of more seasoned solo practitioners that were full of good advice.

Six, count 'em six! iPods were given away, but I didn't get one. :( But, I did get to take some pictures with my new Nikon D40. I love the way the boats reflect agains the water, and you can see the crane, clear as a bell, in mid flight. The landscape picture is from the top of the Arbuckle Mountains here in Oklahoma.
And, of course, I had to stick with the theme around here and put my kiddos up too.

Foreign Pink Cupcakes

I've been told of a place in Vienna that has wonderfully delicious cake. I'm thinking that where there is cake, there is cupcake.

Well...it could only be more fitting for me if I could be certain pink icing would be included. Ahhh...how many days until my trip again?

To Whom Much is Given...

Every Saturday after services, my congregation has a community meal. We all bring dishes and everybody goes through a buffet-style line and stock our plate full of wonderful homemade Israeli dishes and the most delicious bagels you've ever eaten. Trying to carry your full plate and find a seat reminds me a little of the high school cafeteria. Except, here, everyone is nice to you and you can sit anywhere there is a seat open and not worry about being an one of the cool kids.

After the meal last week I was speaking with a friend of mine who is also a small business owner and he said one sentence in passing that has molded my thinking for this week. "To whom much is given, much is required." We could all probably debate for hours the different ways this phrase applies (or could/should) apply in our lives. But, for me it made me wonder if I'm doing enough for His Kingdom. These are some questions I've been asking myself:

1. Am I witnessing enough? This would include both verbally and through my actions and choices.

2. Am I spending enough time in prayer? I know, at least for me, the answer is probably no.

3. Do I know the Word well enough? 2 Samuel talks about not letting God's words fall to the ground. Am I just reading through the Bible like its a text in a history course? Or, am I internalizing God's word so that the Holy Spirit (today's trivia--Holy Spirit in Hebrew is "Ruach HaKodesh" :)) can call it up when I am witnessing or making choices/decisions (see #1)

At least for me, I think I sometimes think of all the things God says I should be doing and then think that's good enough. But, this sentence has really made me think about the actual relationship formed with Yeshua (triva #2, Hebrew for Jesus).

In other news, I found an awesome sale with 18 months no interest so I bought the Nikon D40 I've been wanting for months. I really haven't used it yet except to photgraph some of the girls. I'm hoping to go picture taking tomorrow at the lake, and post some then.

I'm it!

My dearest Aunt Amanda tagged me for this meme. She's not really my aunt, I just call her that from back in our college days.

First, the Rules: People who are tagged start by thinking about 7 random facts/habits about themselves. Each player then must write about those seven things on their blog, as well as include these rules. Players then need to choose 7 people to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave each person a comment telling them they’ve been tagged.

1. I like to hit snooze one time in the morning. Those extra 9 minutes are my time with Belicia to snuggle and pet her before the day gets going.

2. I wear winter pajamas unless its super, super hot outside.

3. I don't take an actual lunch at work unless I leave the office and go somewhere to eat. Most days, I'd prefer to eat at my desk so that I can come in later in the morning and still work the same number of hours.

4. iTunes confuses me. That's right. I have a doctorate degree and I can't figure out a music downloading system that elementary kids I know can do.

5. I only have two dogs, but I would have 10 more if I could.

6. I'm a real loner. I can go days without any human contact and it not bother me one bit.

7. I'm fiercely indepent and loyal.

I'm tagging: Anyone who wants to play along
