Hoops and YoYo

I have a new obsession...drumroll please--and I'll tell you that its not Rice Krispy treats, cupcakes or chihuahuas in little pink dresses.

Its Hoops and Yoyo. Their little voices are just so sweet and they have the cutest little animated shorts on their website. They also have a little tiny friend that they hang out with named Sprinkles. I'm not sure if Sprinkles is a friend or family to Hoops or YoYo. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Hoops and YoYo are just friends or are family. Hmmm...they sure do have a lot of fun together though. My husband and I laugh outloud when we watch their animated series on the website.

If you're looking for a good laugh go check them out.

They are a Hallmark creation, but I read online that they only sell the plush H & Y babies online. I shall purchase mine tomorrow, along with my Fiddler on the Roof tickets for OKC's Lyric Theater. Fiddler has been an obsession of mine for almost a decade now, and I actually saw it performed on Broadway last summer in NYC. I can't wait to hear Tevye and the gang sing to me about "Tradition!"

Check out my new look!

All I can say is that I am amazed at the perfect and quick work that Goofy Girl did on my blog. I know that its just a new blog look, but it has made a HUGE difference to me. Its the little things that always bring me the most happiness, and this definitely has. I'm hoping that I'm not coming across too cheesy, but I just wanted a new look so badly and this one is so perfect.

Thanks Goofy Girl!

Boring?

Didn't I say yesterday that a boring week was ahead of me? Well, I must have sadly forgotten that with children--life is never boring. Last night at dinner I had a lovely quiche (all vegan friendly) and Casey and Little-Girl were eating pot roast.

Casey starts to feed Belicia (short hair dog) a tiny piece of pot roast and I tell him not to. She has a problem with her joints so it is very important that her weight stays the same. I remind him AND the Little-Girl of this point. Little-Girl then proceeds to look right at me and drop a piece of pot roast out of her plate to Belicia.
Oh my goodness. Such a daring thwart of authority. I mean, she looked right at me when she did it. It was as if she was daring me to get on to her. I had to use every fiber of my self-control to not go banana land with her. I was just so shocked that she didn't try to hide it. I know that kids do stuff like this all the time, but she was just so confident in her own authority that I was totally blown away. So much for my boring week. :)

I hope everyone else is having a good week so far.

Boring Week Ahead

This week is the Little-Girl's last week here, and then she is going to visit some family of hers in TX for 6 weeks. Everybody is always really sad when she goes away.

Little-Girl got the lead, Zeus, in the play they are doing in acting camp. Casey and I are excited to see the play performed on Friday.

My goals for the week are to:
1. Go to the Courthouse to file the one adoption I still have outstanding
2. Apply for the other Legal Aid job I saw posted online.

My goals for today are:
1. Workout
2. Go to the library to stock up on my reading.

I will hopefully have a new blog look coming up in the next several weeks. I'm very, very, very excited about it and I hope that everything works out.

My tummy has been hurting since yesterday afternoon. I'm doing a lot better now, but its still uncomfortable.

See, its just like I warned you...a boring week ahead.

Summer Time

Its hot. I'm hot. My makeup sweats off.

I've been outside watching Little-Girl swim at the local water park. Its a great park because it has two huge water slides.

But, did I mention that it is hot and my makeup sweats off?

Wedding Shower Bliss

Yesterday I had the honor of attending a bridal shower for one of my best friends. She and I met in undergraduate school and have amazingly kept in touch. She's an amazing woman and it was a beautiful shower at a perfectly decorated tea room.

Meerkat Manor

Has anybody seen the show Meerkate Manor on the Animal Planet? I just love those little Meerkats! They have little ears like a baby, and they seem so smart because they are always so alert for predators and intruders onto their land. Plus, the alpha female's, little babies are just so cute. They use their little paws and try so hard to dig just as well as the Meerkat adults in their, the Whiskers, family.

Shabbat Shalom

Here's a wish for all of the internet world to have a restful Shabbat. Tonight's Shabbat dinner is (drumroll please) Tofu, Green and red bell peppers and organic green onions sauted in EVOO. Yummy!

This weeks reading is Numbers 8-12.

Thursday 13

In Honor of Father's Day...13 Reasons Why I Love My Dad.

1. To date, he has never been to busy to take time for me.

2. He always tells me I can do whatever I want to do.

3. When I was a baby, and he and my mom were just getting started he worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. I truly respect him for that.

4. He is a hard worker and taught me to be the same.

5. He taught me to ride a bike.

6. He taught me to whistle.

7. He sat at the roller skating rink for hours when I was little so I could skate. How boring that must have been for him.

8. He never missed a school play...or anything else for that matter, even in my adult years.

9. He gave me a beautiful wedding and walked me down the aisle.

10. He loves me unconditionally.

11. He opens all my doors for me, and taught me from an early age how a lady deserves to be treated by a man.

12. He is the most generous person I have every met.

13. He's my Da-Da and I love him!

Dinner Party

So, I'm at this dinner party Saturday night with a few of our friends in my husband's home town. I was excited because this set of friends is always really fun to hang out with. Little did I know that one of "those people" were going to be at the party. Who are "those people" you may ask...

We've all met them. We all know them. We've all had dinner parties where they are there. "That person" is that guy or girl in the group that just has to play devil's advocate. Everything you say, even about the most non-controversial subjects, turns into a debate. Everything!

Why do people feel the need to do this? Are these people that devoid of attention that they try to start a "discussion" about everything that comes up across the dinner table, or is the fact that my husband hates the taste of cheese really that controversial?

Thirteen Things about this Picture

1. This is a picture of me getting sworn in to be an Oklahoma Attorney. Here, I am taking the Oath of Attorneys.

2. This picture signifies the love and support of my parents. From grade K through this day they have supported me emotionally and financially. Without them I doubt it would have been possible for me to accomplish this goal. And, if it was possible, it definitely would have been so much harder than it already was.

3. This picture represents hours upon hours upon hours of studying during law school.

4. This picture represents dozens of missed social engagements and time with my family so that I could study.

5. This picture represents discipline.

6. This picture represents the effect that one of our law school Deans had on my life. She encouraged me to break through the women's glass ceiling and reach for all of my dreams, notwithstanding the incredible male dominance of the legal world.

7. This picture represents passing the Oklahoma bar. Even before the holiday season of 2005 began I spent a minimum of 10 hours a day studying for this two day Febuary exam. I took classes that lasted until 10 o'clock at night and then came home and studied some more.

8. This picture represents the support of my husband while I was studying for the Oklahoma bar exam. He took care of every meal for me, made sure Little-Girl was as quiet as a mouse, did all the house work and if I got a chance to nap he made sure I was up as soon as the alarm went off to begin studying again. He was also an ever present "you'll pass for sure" when I was studying for the bar exam.

9. This picture represents my responsibility to uphold the United States and Oklahoma Constitutions.

10. This picture represents the new suit I am wearing.

11. This picture represents that I can do anything I want to do.

12. This picture represents the end of an era. I am through with school, studying and everything that goes with that.

13. This picture represents the beginning of an era. I love being able to say I'm an attorney after all of these years.

Luscious LUSH

Last Tues. and Wed. Casey, Little-Girl and I went to Dallas. I shopped the day away and they play at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington. I stumbled into Lush, a store I haven't been in since I shopped in D.C.'s Georgetown. I never bought anything during my D.C. trip, but I changed all that this week. Their products are so fun, many are vegan, and none are animal tested. I just love the store, their displays look and smell the windows of a fancy NYC candy store.

My booty includes Lush Veganese Conditioner, Rock Star Soap, Seanick and Skinny Dip.
